Still Life Blocks – Oil on Gilded Pine

6.5cm x 4.5 cm x 3cm

Solid, tactile and exquisitely crafted from wood layered with gesso, precious metal leaf and delicate oil glazes, these highly collectable gilded blocks are small in scale but large in presence. They are a meaningful distillation of over two decades of historical commission work (see below).  The blocks recently featured in an article in the Evening Standard.

Teaching Work – Community Engagement

Sarah has many years’ experience running art workshops, activities and events for a range of age groups. She knows first hand that art enhances lives and that engaging in an artistic activity can have a tremendous impact on health and well-being. Her particular interest is working to bring these benefits to older people and disadvantaged young people.

Sarah Wetherall

Painting – Sarah is a painter with over 25 years’ experience working in fine and applied arts.  She has worked for many years as a muralist and specialist artist for historic trusts and private clients.

Sarah’s “Still Life Blocks” are highly collectable miniature works of art. Born out of over 20 years of historical painting work and a recent commission to explore traditional symbolism in Still Life painting, these gilded blocks are small in scale but large in presence.

Sarah also paints landscapes, portraits , still life  and is currently  working in mixed media.

Teaching – Sarah has taught a range of age groups over the years. She is a teaching artist at Dulwich Picture Gallery and runs  art clubs at a local primary school (together with artist Louisa Loizeau) and Bell House Dulwich, amongst others. Her outreach work, together with colleague Deborah Charles, was nominated for an award by Surrey Cricket’s nationwide charity “Chance to Shine”.As well as enjoying witnessing how creativity can improve well-being, working with young and old brings so much to Sarah’s studio work.
